Scope and Objectives

The Kaizen Company is searching for a Project Lead for the anticipated USAID/Ethiopia Organizational Development Activity. The new organizational development activity will leverage new and innovative, research-based and evidence-based approaches to OD that (1) renew a common and omnipresent organizational ethos that effectively guides individual and team behaviors to support broad-based Mission goals and objectives; (2) facilitate the planning, implementation, and institutionalization of appropriate Mission technology, systems and structures in relation to Mission challenges and context and (3) improve the identified hard and soft skills that enhance the Mission’s ability to achieve its goals and objectives. 

Responsibilities

The Chief of Party will require experience in leading an organization in both management and technical fields, with a proven track record of programmatic accomplishment, professional achievement, management competence, and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will have led interventions and strategies to enhance organizational health from within the US Government, private sector, and other organizations. Expected responsibilities include:

  • Provide strategic vision and overall leadership with principal responsibility for management of all aspects of the contract.
  • Serve as primary liaison with USAID COR and Contracting Officer.
  • Ensure quality control and overall responsiveness of technical assistance provided under the contract, including necessary adjustments to operations to fit the requirements of USAID.
  • Supervise team of local staff and short-term national and international consultants.
  • Provide technical leadership to drive organizational health and operational performance of the USAID/Ethiopia and USAID/Djibouti Mission.

Requirements

  • At least ten years of experience leading projects in developing countries, preferably including experience in Sub-Saharan Africa and Ethiopia.
  • An advanced university degree in relevant subject areas, preferably in Organizational Development, Capacity Building, International Development, or other related fields.
  • A proven record of excellent management, leadership, decision-making, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience driving improvements in organizational health from the inside of organizations, including the reform and redesign of human resource, strategy, internal communications, or other OD-supportive functions.
  • Experience supporting organizational professional development and implementing innovative approaches to improve organizational health.
  • Experience managing USG-issued contracts or otherwise demonstrated knowledge of USG Federal Acquisition Requirements. 
  • The ideal candidate will have a balance of multinational private sector, international development, and U.S. Government experience.
