The Kaizen Company is seeking applications for the position of Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Advisor for the United States Agency for International Development’s (USAID) Partnerships Incubator. We encourage candidates who are based in Barbados/the Caribbean region to apply, but will consider remote candidates who are willing to travel to Barbados/the Caribbean region to engage directly with partner organizations. 

About the Partnerships Incubator

The Partnerships Incubator seeks to support USAID Missions and Operating Units in their work with new, local, and nontraditional partners by building the capacity of potential or current partners to implement USAID awards. 

Responsibilities

The Monitoring and Evaluation Advisor is a part-time consulting position for the Partnerships Incubator. S/he will:

  • Provide Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) technical support to select local implementing partners in the Eastern and Southern Caribbean region as directed by USAID and the Partnerships Incubator. Support to partners may include but is not limited to:
    • Supporting creation of or improvements to an organization-wide MEL system.
    • Training team members in basic USAID MEL requirements under current or future awards.
    • Assisting in establishing, reviewing, and/or updating required MEL materials under an existing award.
    • Supporting MEL requirements during project initiation and/or closeout.
    • Building required data collection tools to support reporting, feedback, or research for current or future USAID awards.
    • Sorting, analyzing, charting, and summarizing results and trends in support of reporting and communications efforts, using both quantitative and qualitative data.
    • Providing training and technical support (troubleshooting) on monthly data entry.
    • Confirming data and updates are entered accurately and verifiably.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of hands-on monitoring, evaluation, and learning experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in international development or related field; certification in performance management, data science, or training and adult learning specialty area a plus.
  • Deep and proven knowledge of USAID MEL and learning requirements and performance expectations.
  • Strong English language skills are required. 
  • Demonstrated track record implementing training/workshops and/or designing training modules.
  • Exceptional project management skills, with the ability to think strategically and plan for tactical execution.
  • Experience working with regional organizations and/or multilateral institutions preferred.
  • Solid communication skills, both verbal and written. 
  • Professional capability to conduct industry research, identify best practices, and customize solutions to audience needs.
  • NGO and/or USAID or other donor international (field) experience desired.
