The Kaizen Company is seeking applications for the contract position of Technical Lead-Education Data Modeling for the USAID-funded Pre-Service Teacher Education in Jordan (PRESTIJ). This role can be carried out remotely with occasional trips to Jordan or can be held by someone residing in Jordan.

About PRESTIJ

The PRESTIJ project seeks to increase the preparedness of future Grade 4-10 teachers by improving the system of pre-service teacher education. The project will expand and improve the pre-service teacher education programming offered by Jordanian universities, centered primarily around the implementation of the adapted Queen Rania Teacher Academy (QRTA) pre-service teacher education modules. By supporting a total of four geographically diverse universities and relevant Government of Jordan (GoJ) entities to implement the high-quality QRTA model or an alternative model, and by providing responsive technical assistance to the GoJ to advance essential pre-service teacher education reforms more broadly, the five-year PRESTIJ contract will achieve its mission to increase the number of quality teachers in Jordan. 

Responsibilities

The Technical Lead-Education Data Modeling will be responsible for:

  • Provide oversight and guidance to:
    • Education Data Analyst LTTA
    • Data Architect STTA
    • Software Developer STTA
  • Lead the development of deliverables, including:
    • Continuous improvement of Teacher Demand and Supply Model (TDSM), a data model that projects teacher shortages and surpluses.
    • Development and launch of Career Path Tracking Tool (CPTT), a data model that tracks the careers of teachers.
    • Quarterly reports
  • Co-lead presentations with Education Data Analyst to stakeholders, including USAID
  • Ensure all deliverables are developed with ongoing stakeholder feedback
  • Support the development of training materials, workshops and guides in coordination with Education Data Analyst
  • Ensure quality of data through data verification procedures, including data quality audits and review of model data to identify any areas for further quality checking or review
  • Lead the development review and utilization of data collection, monitoring and repairing tools, including quarterly and annual reports submitted to IREX
  • Measuring and reporting results according to project logic framework
  • Coordinate with client and other subcontractors
    • Attend weekly meeting with client (Currently Thursdays 9 AM EST)
    • Attend quarterly partner meetings
    • Attend quarterly check-in with client
    • Attend annual planning meetings
  • Coordinate with Home Office (HO) Program Management Unit (PMU) for:
    • HR matters
    • Timesheets
    • Deliverable review, quality control, and submission
  • Provide strategic and technical direction for Kaizen's contribution to the larger project

Qualifications:

  • Project management experience, including:
    • Leading the development of technical deliverables
    • Developing and managing relationships with stakeholders
    • Setting timelines and managing tasks
    • Managing team members
  • Ability to facilitate and lead on the training of tools and provide continual technical training and guidance;
  • Understanding of the use of data within education systems;
  • 4+ years of data modeling and analysis experience;
  • 2+ years of software development project management experience, including:
    • Managing software developers
    • Leading quality assurance and testing efforts
    • Creating wireframes and concepts
    • Experience with PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, UI/UX
    • Preferred: Experience with OpenEMIS
  • Experience with survey development and implementation;
  • Preferred: Understanding of teacher demand and supply;
  • Bachelor’s degree (minimum) and 4+ years of relevant work experience;
  • History of working with USAID or other international donors;
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present visualizations of data collected;
  • English language proficiency required. Arabic language proficiency preferred.

Report to:

  • Technical Director on technical matters
  • Program Manager on administrative matters
