Project Director- NextGen: TA Marketplace

Kaizen, A Tetra Tech Company, seeks a Project Director for the anticipated USAID NextGen Technical Assistance Marketplace for Health Supply Chain and Pharmaceutical Management (TA Marketplace).

Opportunity Overview:

The Next Generation Global Health Supply Chain Suite of Programs (NextGen) is a USAID initiative to strengthen health supply chain systems to improve health outcomes in partner countries. As part of NextGen, the Technical Assistance Marketplace for Health Supply Chain and Pharmaceutical Management (TA Marketplace) contract establishes a local, regional, and global marketplace for supply-chain and health vendors. The goal is to strengthen national supply chain systems, increase access to health commodities, and improve pharmaceutical management systems to achieve health impact. The TA Marketplace contract also aims to build the capacity of small, underutilized, or local partners in the network who may not have the systems and capacity in place for direct USAID agreement and funding.

Role Summary:

The Project Director will lead the TA Marketplace contract's strategic planning, partnership development, capacity building, project management, stakeholder engagement, team leadership, and knowledge management. This role will work closely with USAID, profit or non-profit firms, non-governmental organizations, academic institutions, and other stakeholders to ensure that specialized and niche technical expertise is accessible on demand to improve health supply chains and pharmaceutical management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic plans for the TA Marketplace contract, including setting goals, objectives, and performance metrics in alignment with NextGen's overall goals and objectives.
  • Partnership Development and Management: Establish and maintain strong partnerships with USAID, vendors, non-profit organizations, academic institutions, and other stakeholders to ensure effective implementation of the TA Marketplace contract.
  • Identify and engage potential new partners to expand the network of specialized technical assistance providers.
  • Capacity Building: Develop and implement capacity-building initiatives to strengthen the skills and knowledge of local, underutilized, or small partners in the network, ensuring their ability to deliver high-quality technical assistance services to meet NextGen's goals.

  • Project Management: Oversee the planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of technical assistance projects under the TA Marketplace contract, ensuring timely and quality delivery of services. Provide guidance and support to project teams to achieve project goals and objectives.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with USAID, partners, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication, coordination, and engagement in the TA Marketplace activities. Foster relationships with key stakeholders to advocate for the importance of health supply chain and pharmaceutical management.
  • Team Leadership: Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to the TA Marketplace team, ensuring a collaborative and productive work environment. Promote professional growth and development of team members.
  • Knowledge Management: Develop and implement knowledge capture, sharing, and utilization strategies within the TA Marketplace and the broader NextGen network. Promote best practices, innovation, and continuous improvement in health supply chain and pharmaceutical management.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Master's degree or higher in supply chain management, public health, pharmacy, international development, business administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in health supply chain management, pharmaceutical management, or related fields, with demonstrated expertise in technical assistance and project management.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of global health supply chain systems, pharmaceutical management, and related policies, practices, and challenges.
  • Experience in partnership development and management, including working with diverse stakeholders such as USAID, profit or non-profit organizations, NGOs, academic institutions, and others.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams and foster collaboration and innovation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and work collaboratively within a team.
  • Ability to travel internationally as required for project implementation.
  • Familiarity with USAID or other international donor-funded programs is highly desirable.
