Youth Network Coordinator

Scope and Objectives

As part of the USAID-funded YouthPower Jordan (YPJ) project, Kaizen supports project monitoring, evaluation and learning and fosters greater communication between youth, community leaders and policy makers. This includes creating the Jordan Youth Network, an online forum and data sharing platform for youth to interact and share common challenges and opportunities and access resources. The YPJ project works with youth from ages 10 to 18, and 19 to 29 in 60 communities throughout Jordan to promote youth engagement with local communities.

The objectives of the Youth Network Coordinator position are as follows:

  • To act as a digital content developer by liaising with youth on social media platforms, such as Facebook, YouTube, and the YouthPower online portal
  • To communicate requests generated by the youth on social media platforms to the YPJ technical team
  • To create, launch, and operate the Jordan Youth Network
  • To oversee the creation of the YouthPower online portal, ensuring that it is user friendly, and to manage this portal once it is established
  • To manage the YouthPower participant database
  • To liaise with local and international programs in Jordan to recruit YP participants, and refer YP participants to other youth programs
  • To facilitate the participant community of practice on youth development (agency, community engagement)

Tasks

The incumbent is responsible for the following tasks:

  • Liaising between youth and the YPJ technical team
  • Manage youth networks on social media platforms
  • Plan and deliver online (webinars, Skype, etc.) and in-person events and opportunities for members to network and to collaborate
  • Develop partnerships with organizations that can support the network; coordinate outreach to potential participants through other partners/programs in the country
  • Coordinate the creation of a web portal to support the network and database
  • Create and publish content on the portal
  • Manage activities related to the network portal regarding enquiries, membership, engagement, correspondence, etc.; engage network members to keep them active
  • Facilitate the youth community of practice; create and moderate interesting and engaging discussions around youth and youth development practices
  • Work with communication team to facilitate social media activities
  • Keep up to date with youth trends; engage the network accordingly
  • Facilitate discussions and monitor youth activities on the network
  • Develop youth leadership to take an active role in the operation of the network
  • Other relevant tasks and activities defined by the Chief of Party and Kaizen’s Technical Advisor and/or identified in the project workplan

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field of study
  • At least five years of experience in youth, community development or similar programming
  • Experience managing social media platforms and user friendly portals is mandatory
  • Familiarity with youth engagement & development methods and practices
  • Experience with coordinating youth, civic engagement, and/or community development programming
  • Project management experience
  • Experience with different communications and networking platforms, including social media
  • Experience with the development/management of formal and informal networks
  • Familiarity with communities of practice
  • Awareness of geographical and cultural differences in local communities around Jordan.
  • Written and spoken fluency in Arabic and English
  • Experience with web development or website maintenance is preferred
