Scope and Objectives

In cooperation with Save the Children, the Kaizen Company is supporting the Implementer-led Design, Evidence, And Learning (IDEAL) activity, a USAID initiative that will increase the capacity of Food for Peace (FFP) implementing partners worldwide to design and implement effective emergency and development food security activities.  IDEAL will support FFP’s capacity strengthening efforts by developing and sharing food security best practices, while introducing new organizational strengthening, knowledge management, and learning tools.

Kaizen is currently seeking an Organizational Development Coordinator to support the IDEAL Organizational Development Manager in utilizing Kaizen’s proprietary Organizational Self-Assessment and Transformation Program (OSTP) to assist FFP implementing partners to gather, analyze, and communicate data regarding performance. S/he will support training and activity planning for FFP implementing partners in order to carry out solutions identified during the self-assessment phase.

The Organization Development Coordinator will be based in Washington, DC, and will provide support to field-based FFP implementing partners, likely with travel opportunities to facilitate association discussions and support capacity strengthening activities undertaken by partner organizations based in FFP countries worldwide.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to FFP implementing partners, including responding to requests for information and supporting logistics for OSTP-related events
  • Support facilitation of OSTP meetings
  • Assist in the revision of the OSTP criteria for use by FFP implementers
  • Support organizational capacity assessments, reform plans, and reform implementation
  • Assist OSTP reform teams based globally to identify, access, and use organizational transformation support tools and resources
  • Provide overall support to the project staff
  • Support the implementation of organizational capacity development activities
  • Support all aspects of an FFP Community of Practice

Qualifications

The Organizational Development Coordinator is a will provide the opportunity to work with a range of USAID implementing partners while building their own capacity to lead capacity building efforts. Kaizen is a rapidly growing firm, and organizational development makes up a substantial portion of our activities, meaning that high performing staff may find ample opportunities to grow within and beyond the project. The ideal candidate will have:

  • A BA or MA in International Studies, Organizational Psychology, Organizational Development, Management, Sociology, or a related field
  • At least 2 years of experience interning or working in a role with some combination of administrative, organizational, leadership, or communications responsibilities.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Experience living and working in emerging markets
  • Solid IT and social media skills, including the ability to set up and run virtual meetings and groups.
  • Strong organizational ability, and a knack for managing competing priorities and multiple processes.
  • Experience with Drupal, or managing a web portal, is a plus, but not required.
